Abisoye Ajayi-Akinfolarin: Sharing Her Light

Named one of the BBC’s 100 Women in the World (2018), Abisoye Ajayi-Akinfolarin is changing the lives of thousands of women and girls in profound ways.

Having experienced the challenges vulnerable young girls from low-income communities face in getting an education, Abisoye founded Pearls Africa Youth Foundation in 2014.

Her NGO equips girls with digital skills and mentorship to empower them with the agency to solve problems they are passionate about.

This knowledge and confidence places them on a path to economic independence.

Pearls Africa not only trains girls from the poorest slums in Nigeria, but also invites young girls to become innovators using their newfound skills to solve problems they are familiar with.

Today, these girls have started their own GirlsCoding clubs in their communities to share with their friends the same gift they have received.

This pay-it-forward way of being aligns with the vision of New World Women--in which we encourage women to share their gifts, knowledge, healing and wisdom with other women so that we create a new world for all people.

Thank you Abisoye, for sharing your gifts, which creates new lives for the girls and women you have helped!
