Many of us have learned about goddesses and matriarchal leaders through books, blogs, conversations—and even through an awakening or inner knowing. We know, in our bones, the world was different before, when women guided us.
In most cases, though, what we have been taught about goddesses and matriarchal leadership is inaccurate, and deliberately so.
Information about women’s (Divine Feminine) power was threatening to patriarchal dominance, so it was destroyed, whitewashed, hidden, misrepresented and/or christianized.
Ancient cultures revered and worshipped women. According to research by The Brooklyn Museum, “The earliest proof [of goddess/matriarchal worship] comes from archaeological finds—paintings and figurines of women with exaggerated secondary sexual characteristics, which emphasize fertility. Famous pieces, such as the Venus of Lespugue and the Venus of Willendorf are Upper Paleolithic (30,000–10,000 B.C.E.). That predates Christianity by, well, you do the math.
Patriarchy feared and still fears the power that women have. Yet that is not stopping millions of women around the world who are claiming/reclaiming their power to unapologetically love, have compassion, create unity and live with creativity and joy. This soothes, heals and uplifts our world.
The New World Women sisterhood is home to some of these women and soon there will be many, many more.
NWW is attracting the women who are awake or are waking up to what a new world of love can truly be.
In the months to come, you will be delighted by women experts, academics, teachers, inspirers and healers, whose wisdom will be shared with you. In the meantime (and beyond), tap into your own inner knowing, do some digging and learn the truth of women’s roles in the past. You will feel emboldened, inspired and hopeful.
We will not experience the world we long for staying on the trajectory we are on now. So, dear and loving Sister, let’s change it up by reclaiming—and living from—the wisdom of our Mothers.
