Have you, at any point in your life, worn high heels? Do you still? Are you at a point in your life when you’ve decided to choose comfort over style?
For fun, the three of us have been contemplating the choosing of shoes as a metaphor for choosing or describing friendships/relationships.
Comfortable, supportive everyday shoes are like friendships that help us feel solid, close to Mother Earth, stable.
New shoes that don’t quite fit and give us blisters (but we wear them anyway) are like relationships that are unaligned and cause some discomfort—or even pain.
High heels can be a beautiful fashion statement, but may make us feel off-balance and pinch our toes. Like some relationships, they may look good but not feel good!
Like a high-vibe relationship, tennis shoes (sneakers, trainers) can help us move forward with energy, feeling supported.
Certain friendships can be like wearing flip-flops (thongs): fun and free.
Some shoes have simply outworn their purpose and it’s time to bid them farewell.
And lastly, there’s the comfortable house slipper. Some relationships, tried and true, always feel wonderful to slip into.
There are probably many other metaphors you could add, too! Have a sweet week, with happy feet and endearing relationships.
