8 Ways to Honor Solstice Around the Globe

"When you light a candle, you also cast a shadow."

Ursula K. Le Guin

Summer Solstice is about light and celebration of the return of light. Winter Solstice honors the longest hours of darkness or the rebirth of the sun. The three of us thought about the meaning of solstice in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres and came up with a few ideas to share with you.

  1. Become aware (of the passing of time and your relationship with the celestial bodies of the Universe)

  2. Take time to become still (connect and reflect)

  3. Celebrate in candlelight or sunlight (it’s all about light and darkness and the relationship between the two)

  4. Give back to nature (plant a tree, re-commit to recycling, thank Mother Earth, etc.)

  5. Move your body (in a way that aligns with your Summer or Winter Solstice)

  6. Exchange nature-based gifts (such as flowers, rocks, shells, etc.)

  7. Create a self-care ritual (to prepare for the new season ahead)

  8. Feel gratitude (for variety, transformation and abundance)

Have a beautiful week and feel the power of our New World Women sisterhood as we change the world, one woman’s life at a time.
